Commission Jewellery

From time to time I take on commission jewellery projects, but as a small independent silversmith I don’t take on every enquiry. I’m quite selective!

If your idea aligns with the kind of jewellery I love making - textured, tactile, slightly unusual silver pieces - then there’s a good chance I’ll say yes.

If you’re hoping for something perfectly precise and heavily detailed with tiny stones, like you might see in a high street jeweller’s window, I’m probably not the right person for the job.

I don’t use casting methods or CAD design software. Everything I create starts from sterling silver sheet and wire, and is fabricated by hand at the bench.

And just to be clear - I will not copy another jeweller’s work under any circumstances.

Creative freedom is where the magic happens.

Tell me about your idea - hand-drawn sketches, rough doodles, inspiration photos and wild ideas are all welcome.

If I think I can bring your idea to life, we can then talk through the details and costs involved.

Commission pricing

Commissioned silver pieces start at £300, with final pricing depending on the materials, size, and complexity of the design.

Once a price is agreed, that price will not change.

You will receive two invoices:

• A 50% non-refundable deposit to secure the commission
• A final invoice for the remaining 50%, including insured postage, once the piece is complete

Once the deposit is paid, I will order materials and begin work.

Watching your piece come to life

I love sharing work-in-progress photos, so you can see your piece developing during the making process.

It’s always lovely when customers get to see how their jewellery evolves at the bench.

Collection or delivery

Your finished piece can be sent via insured postage, or if you’re local you’re very welcome to collect from the studio.

You’re also welcome to pop in and see progress by appointment (please email first to confirm - I may have a workshop running).

Hallmarking

All jewellery I make must follow UK hallmarking regulations.

Any sterling silver piece weighing 7.78g or more must be hallmarked.

This threshold applies to the metal weight only. If the total weight exceeds the threshold due to stones or other materials, hallmarking is not legally required.

That said, I do enjoy hallmarking commission pieces for a bit of bragging rights - which is another good reason I like to feel genuinely excited about what I’m making.

I am registered with the Birmingham Assay Office, where qualifying pieces are sent for hallmarking before being returned to me for finishing and delivery.

Can I see examples of your work?
