Frequently Asked Questions

Orders & Delivery

When will my jewellery order be dispatched?

Jewellery orders are usually dispatched twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays, with a 9am cut-off for orders placed before dispatch.

Handmade sterling silver jewellery follows the same dispatch schedule unless it is made to order or bespoke, in which case the timeframe will be discussed when the order is placed.

How long does made-to-order jewellery take?

Made-to-order or bespoke jewellery can take up to 8 weeks, depending on the complexity of the design and current workload.

Timescales are always discussed before work begins.

Do you offer rush orders?

In some cases, yes. Rush orders may be possible depending on the type of jewellery and current workload. An additional fee may apply.

How is my jewellery delivered?

All handmade sterling silver jewellery is sent using insured delivery to ensure it arrives safely.

Several postage options are available at checkout, including Royal Mail Tracked, Signed-For, and Insured delivery.

Do you ship jewellery internationally?

At present, jewellery orders are primarily dispatched within the United Kingdom.

If you are based overseas and would like to place an order, feel free to get in touch and we can discuss possible options.

Returns & Refunds

Can I return jewellery if I change my mind?

Returns may be accepted depending on the circumstances and the type of jewellery purchased.

Items that have been custom made, resized, or personalised may not be eligible for return unless faulty.

If you have any concerns about your jewellery order, please get in touch and we can discuss the best way forward.

Refurbished Jewellery

Can you hold refurbished jewellery for me?

Refurbished jewellery is offered on a first-come, first-served basis and I generally do not hold items.

As a small independent business, holding items creates a significant amount of administration and prevents pieces from being available to other customers.

If an item is available on the website, it is available to purchase.

Do you buy sterling silver jewellery from the public?

No. I no longer purchase jewellery directly from the public.

Any refurbished sterling silver jewellery offered for sale has been sourced through reputable dealers who carry out XRF testing to verify the metal content before resale.

Jewellery Workshops

Where are your jewellery workshops held?

My jewellery workshops take place at SilverAli Studio in Drybrook, Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.

This is a small working jewellery studio where I create handmade sterling silver jewellery and run beginner-friendly jewellery making workshops throughout the year.

Participants travel from across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Monmouthshire, and the South West to attend workshops.

Do I need experience to attend a jewellery workshop?

No experience is needed. My jewellery making workshops are designed to be beginner friendly, and I guide participants through each stage of the process step-by-step.

What happens during a sterling silver jewellery workshop?

During a sterling silver jewellery workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of silversmithing and create your own piece of jewellery from fresh sterling silver sheet or wire.

Depending on the workshop, participants can create items such as:

• Band rings
• Stacking rings
• Pendants
• Earrings
• Bangles

Workshops are hands-on, creative, and relaxed, with plenty of guidance throughout.

How long do jewellery workshops last?

Most sterling silver jewellery workshops run for approximately 3 hours, allowing time to learn techniques and complete a finished piece.

Shorter workshops and evening creative sessions are also offered throughout the year.

What is included in a jewellery workshop?

All tools, materials, and equipment needed for the workshop are provided.

Sterling silver is included for the project being made during the session.

What should I bring to a jewellery workshop?

Everything you need will be provided.

Participants are welcome to bring drinks or snacks during workshops. Bottled water and biscuits are available in the studio.

Please note I do not offer tea and coffee — our water is pants!

How many people attend each workshop?

Group sizes are kept small and relaxed so everyone receives plenty of guidance during the workshop.

Are jewellery workshops suitable for gifts?

Yes. Jewellery workshops are often purchased as birthday gifts, anniversary experiences, or creative days out with friends or family.

Gift vouchers are also available.

Cutlery Jewellery Workshops (Spoon Ring Workshops)

What is a cutlery jewellery workshop?

These workshops focus on turning vintage cutlery into jewellery.

Participants learn how to transform items such as spoons, forks, and handles into wearable pieces like spoon rings, pendants, and bracelets.

It’s a creative way to repurpose vintage cutlery into jewellery.

Can you make jewellery from old cutlery?

Yes — this is exactly what happens during my cutlery jewellery workshops.

Vintage spoons and forks can be transformed into jewellery such as spoon rings or pendants, giving old items a completely new life.

Can I bring my own cutlery to use?

Yes. Many participants bring sentimental cutlery, such as family pieces or inherited items.

If you're unsure whether something will work, feel free to bring it along and we can take a look together.

Do I need experience to make a spoon ring?

No experience is needed. My spoon ring workshops are designed for beginners and I guide participants through the process step-by-step.

Visiting the Studio

Do you have a jewellery shop I can visit?

SilverAli operates from a working jewellery studio rather than a retail shop.

All jewellery is available to view and purchase through the website.

Can I view jewellery in person?

Yes. If you would like to view jewellery before purchasing, you can book an appointment to visit the studio.
