My studio is usually open by appointment only, but during the farOpen Art Trail I'll be opening the doors and inviting people in for a look around.
If you've ever wondered what a working jewellery studio looks like, what all the tools are for, or what actually happens during one of my workshops, this is your chance to pop in and see.
I'll have workshop examples, tools, work in progress and demonstrations to look at, and I'm always happy to talk through the different projects people can create, explain techniques and chat about workshop possibilities.
There will also be plenty of jewellery available to browse and buy, including handmade sterling silver pieces and a much larger selection of refurbished silver jewellery than I've displayed in previous years. So even if you've visited before, there should be plenty you haven't seen yet.
I love making jewellery. Something unique, something with character, and something that hasn't simply rolled off a production line.
Everything I personally make is hand fabricated, which means I create pieces from sterling silver sheet and wire rather than casting from moulds. I've never liked waste and always try to make the most of the materials available to me. Scrap silver is kept for reuse, gemstones are often given a second chance to shine, and even the off-cuts from my cutlery-to-jewellery workshops are saved for future creative projects.
I love the sparkle of silver, the coloured gemstones, and the moment someone discovers a piece they can't stop looking at.
There's also something pretty special about that "I made that" feeling. It's real - and yes, it does come with a bit of an internal glow.
Whether you're curious about workshops, looking for a unique piece of jewellery, or simply fancy seeing what goes on inside a working studio, you're very welcome to visit.
