Spoon Ring Workshop
Spoon rings are everywhere — but making your own? That’s where the real fun starts.
Join me in the studio for a fun, hands-on session where we’ll transform forgotten cutlery into unique, wearable jewellery. It’s a satisfying way to upcycle old or unloved cutlery into something new and personal.
What’s Involved
You’ll learn how to:
Determine your ring size so it fits just right
Bend and form a spoon into a ring shape
Smooth and finish the edges for a comfortable fit
No experience needed — this workshop is designed with beginners in mind. Just bring a bit of curiosity, an open mind, good hand strength and dexterity, and an enthusiasm for repurposing.
Workshop Details
When: Thursday 22nd May 2025
Time / Duration: 2 hours (or thereabouts — it depends on how stubborn your chosen piece wants to be!)
Please select your preferred time slot from the drop-down menu.
Cost: £55 per person (excluding spoon – bring your own or buy one on the day)
Location: SilverAli studio, Drybrook, Gloucestershire, GL17 9ED
Group Size: Small and friendly – Min 2, Max 4
Age Guidance: Suitable for adults and teens. Under 18s must be accompanied by a paying adult.
Bring a Spoon or Choose One of Mine
Got a spare spoon tucked away? Bring it along and turn it into a one-of-a-kind ring.
(Please email a photo of your spoon beforehand to: [email protected])
If you don’t have one, I’ll have a small stash available on the day. Prices range from basic EPNS designs (£5) to ornate sterling silver options (£70), depending on what’s currently in stock. You can pay by cash or card during the session.
Choosing the Right Spoon
Here’s a quick guide to what works best when selecting your spoon:
✔ Suitable for Bending:
Sterling silver spoons
Silver-plated spoons (marked EPNS)
Older nickel silver spoons (marked NS, Alpacca)
Tea spoons, coffee spoons, salt spoons, small dessert spoons (small = easier to manipulate)
❌ Best Avoided:
Stainless steel spoons
Pewter spoons
Spoons with welded or heavily repaired handles
Large serving spoons, soup ladles
Thicker metals (over 2mm)
If in doubt, please bring a couple of options with you so we can pick the best one together on the day.
Want to Make More Than One Ring?
The standard beginner workshop covers one completed ring.
If you’ve got extra spoons you’d like to use, you can book an additional hour (charged separately) when reserving your place — just select it from the drop-down menu.
Fancy making another ring but don’t have more spoons? No problem — you’re welcome to pick a second from my stock and pay for it on the day.
What to Bring & Wear
Glasses if you need them for close-up work
Clothes you don’t mind getting a bit grubby
Long hair must be tied back
Please no open-toed footwear
I’ll provide aprons, safety glasses, and dust masks if needed — so you’ll be well kitted out for the task.
Refreshments
I provide bottled water and two types of biscuit — these change from workshop to workshop!
If you have specific dietary requirements, feel free to bring your own snacks or refreshments.
I can also provide a glass or beaker if you'd prefer to bring your own drink.
Accessibility
My studio is on the first floor, so participants will need to climb one flight of stairs.
There is car parking available on site and a single unisex toilet for use during the session.
Cancellations & Rescheduling
I have a 14-day cancellation policy. If something comes up, I’ll always do my best to offer an alternative date where possible.
